“Gotteslob” - Song and prayer book of the Catholic Church

From the summer of 2008 to the summer of 2013 we worked together with Nikolaus Veeser on the major project “Gotteslob“, the prayer and hymn book of the Catholic Church. It was published at the beginning of December 2013 with an initial print run of 3.7 million copies. To date, over 6 million copies have been sold. Nikolaus Veeser was responsible for all music notation of the main section and several regional sections.
His accurate and reliable work on thousands of music notations helped to ensure that the mammoth work was completed on time. Following the hymn book, Nikolaus Veeser also supplied the music for the three-volume organ book and the two-volume piano book for the “Gotteslob“. We were glad to have Nikolaus Veeser on board, a competent music notation specialist who always delivered high-quality music notation on time and flexibly for these elaborate and complex projects.

Mr. Nikolaus Veeser has been working for Universal Edition for about 20 years in the areas of text layout, music notation and combined text-music-graphics. He typesets the multilingual prefaces, interpretative notes and critical reports, and in some cases also parts of the sheet music for the editions of the Unviversal Edition and delivers the necessary print-ready files to the publishing house.
Mr. Veeser always finds excellent graphic solutions, especially in the delicate Critical Notes, where not only complex specifications for columns and line breaks have to be executed, but also complicated combinations of word-text and music examples. The same applies to the interpretation notes, which are often provided with music examples and tables.
In addition to the excellent execution of the layout work, Mr. Veeser is characterized by absolutely reliable adherence to schedules, even with tight deadlines and higher order volumes. Furthermore, his cooperative, friendly and always timely communication with the publishing house’s editorial office is to be emphasized.
